Sustainability at PTSL

We’re committed to continuing on our comprehensive ESG journey. This initiative will lay a robust foundation, directing us towards a more sustainable and responsible future. By integrating ESG principles into our core operations, we aim to create lasting value for all, ensuring our business practices positively impact both people and the planet.

Our journey to a better future

Over the past few years, we’ve taken significant steps to understand and reduce our environmental impact. We’re proud of our progress, but we recognise that this is just the beginning of our journey towards a more sustainable future.

Understanding our carbon footprint

We’ve been working hard to measure our carbon emissions, which come from various sources:

  1. Direct emissions: These come from our facilities, like the energy we use for heating and lighting.
  2. Indirect emissions: These are generated by our business activities, including employee commuting, business travel, transporting goods, and the carbon produced by our suppliers.

Looking ahead

We’re proud of what has been achieved so far, but we know there’s much more to do. We’re committed to:

  1. Further reducing our energy consumption
  2. Committing to a 67% reduction in our direct emissions by 2035 (against a 2022 baseline) that supports the UK Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy
  3. Working with our suppliers to reduce indirect emissions
  4. Exploring innovative ways to make our operations more sustainable

This is an ongoing journey, and we’re dedicated to continual improvement for a greener, more sustainable future.

Our progress so far

Green Energy

We've dramatically increased our use of green electricity in our facilities from 68% in 2022 to over 91% in 2024 (year-to-date).

Reducing energy

We've reduced energy consumption across UK facilities from over 70 MWh per month to less than 40 MWh.

Biodiversity

We've installed 2 honeybee hives at our Kintail facility to help the local biodiversity.

Supporting communities

PTSL has committed to continue its work to support local charities both financially and with volunteers. Our volunteering policy was launched in 2024 allowing every employee paid time off to support a charity.

Our commitment to charitable giving

We are committed to sustainability, striving to drive our business towards a more impactful balance between people, planet, and profit.

Over the past 15 years, we have made significant donations to more than twenty charities at local, national, and international levels. Our pledge to invest a double-digit percentage of our profits annually ensures that our relationships with these organisations continue to deepen and grow.

Volunteering programme

We recognise that financial assistance is not always the primary need for charities. Our volunteering policy empowers employees to contribute their time to a charity of their choice while receiving their regular pay. This initiative allows our team members to make a direct impact on causes they care about.

Providing space and resources

To further support charitable organisations, we offer free access to a secure area in our new facility. We cover all costs, including energy expenses, for charities utilising this space on both temporary and permanent bases. In the past year, we’ve welcomed an increasing number of charities, providing them with storage and/or office space. This arrangement allows these organisations to optimise their resources and access modern facilities without worrying about rent or overhead costs.

Building a Sustainable Future

We understand that balancing people, planet, and profit is crucial in any company’s sustainability objectives. By embedding these practices and values into our operations, PTSL aims to be responsible stewards for the future.
